Éducation De Prince

Éducation De Prince or Education of the Prince, was Edna Purviance's last film. It was release in Europe in 1927, but apparently never shown in the USA. I have heard there was a VHS version released about 1991. Also, this film has been shown at film festivals in France many years ago.

I have been looking for the past few years for a source for this film and would be interested in anyone who knows where this film might be found. France seems the most likely place, but my leads have not panned out as of yet.

You can contact me at ednapuriance.org through my contact page. Thank you for your help...

A Tribute To Charlie Chaplin - Music CD

'A Tribute to Charlie Chaplin' with conductor Stanley Black and The London Festival Orchestra is now available as a 2-CD collection by Stanley Black. The collection includes 'Tribute' but also Stanley Black's 'Dimensions in Sound' with The London Festival Orchestra & Chorus. 'Tribute...' has been favorite for some Chaplin music fans, but rare to find and expensive import, so this is a great option to get this Chaplin collection with Black's other work. MORE INFORMATION

Who looks like Edna to you?

What actress or other well known person looks the most like Edna Purviance to you?

Edna Purviance Amazon Page

A couple of years ago I created a few US guides for Charlie Chaplin DVDs & Videos, Music and Books. I also created the section with links to Amazon. Sells of items from those pages add nothing to your cost, but helps the Edna project a bit with research material. If you ever done anything like this, you know the kind of cost involved. I created the guides to help you find Chaplin related material, after being inspired by Chaplin UK Video Guide.

Today, I was just checking Edna's stats and found this link from Amazon about Edna Purviance website. I don't exactly know when this page on Amazon was created, but interesting to see. I actually didn't know Amazon did this sort of thing, for I usually digging around finding other material on Amazon.

It says something about the Speed slow. Edna has always had many graphics, so people on phone modems would find it slow, but not all pages are slow to load, just the ones with more graphics, just happen to be lots of graphics. It is fast with DSL and cable modems.

It will be nice when phone modems are in the past and everyone can afford high speed internet. Getting better every year. As for this Amazon page, interesting to see, but looking forward to Edna's first book on Amazon one of these days. (Which means I better get back to it...)

Notes: Music section - New Essental Chaplin Collection coming soon. Added a re-lease conbination of Stanley Black's 'A Tribute to Charlie Chaplin'. Thanks to Mark at Hollywood Time Machine for the tip (Mark is updating his website at this time). I will update the DVD guide with the new Mutual collection when ready. For the latest on books from Chaplin, check out the LATEST section of the Chaplin Library. It has the latest books in Dominique Dugros 400 plus Chaplin book collection from early books to recent. Speaking of books, you can also pre-order Silent Traces from Amazon at this time. Release August 2006.

Charlie Chaplin and MTV

Just a bit about how Chaplin's image is being used in the modern age from Calcutta, India:

"The Telegraph presented The M2 Challenge, An Inter-corporate Quiz on Movies and Media. The event was meant to raise funds for Concern India Foundation, an NGO working for the betterment of underprivileged children.... The visual round was the most entertaining, mixing the first ever music video on MTV with Charlie Chaplin’s hilarious act in The Great Dictator."

Lovelock Review-Miner - Edna and Charlie

In this age of newspapers closings, Lovelock Review-Miner has been the main paper in Lovelock, Nevada since Edna's final days in Lovelock. In January, the paper ran a Valentine's day article that mentions Edna and Charlie. The article covers other things, including a Valentine contest currently running.

I would like to thank the staff and editor for letting us share the article on Edna's. In the article there is a sign photo of Edna from a private collection. LINK TO ARTICLE

(PS - I should mention a correction, for the item in the article about Edna's home in Lovelock still existing is not true. Edna's home/hotel business was torn down in the mid-1940's and was not in use at the time. It was removed so a laundry business could expand.)

What are you Favorite Silent Films?

Well the list is growing here a bit. So far: Show People, (2) Sunrise, Unknown, Sherlock Jr., The Crowd, The Immigrant, The Rink, (2) Greed, (2) Metropolis, The Big Parade, (2)The Circus, The Wind.

The question will continue... What is yours?

A Brief Glimpse - #1

This is the first entry for my new series called 'A Brief Glimpse'. I created a page on Edna's site with an item from my research file. I will not be announcing this on Edna's site, but only from Edna's Place (this site).

I will place a new item up from time to time that could cover Edna, Charlie or any other related item, but the current item will be removed.

It is away of rewarding you who have been visiting to have something a bit special when you do visit. Thanks for visiting and I hope you might find something of interest at 'A Brief Glimpse'.

Hopes to save Epyptian Theatre in Coos Bay

With the only originally installed Wurlitzer organ left in a Oregon theatre, locals in Coos Bay, Oregon are trying to save this 1922 Egyptian Theatre that is up for sale. Some of the future plans include the possible showing of silent films.
